Drop crotch is the whole silhouette, and it exists for a reason older than fashion. Lowering the rise puts fabric below the seat instead of pulling it tight across, so the hip and thigh never bind when you sit cross-legged or squat.
The trade is proportion. A dropped rise shortens the visible leg, so these read best with the hem sitting at or above the ankle bone.

Is the linen going to crease?
Less than pure linen would. At 50% cotton the blend softens the creasing while keeping most of the breathability.
How do I wash them?
Wash cold and hang dry. Heat is what shrinks a cotton-linen blend and it does not relax back out.
