they look okay on body but in my mirror pic the legs hang lower than i expected. i'm 6'1 and got XL, so maybe that's on me, but i wish the cuff sat a bit higher. fabric's fine, just not something i'd grab when it's hot.

opened the package and the gray was pretty spot on, not weirdly blue or anything. fabric feels lighter than i thought, which was actually nice, and they were folded clean with no crazy creases.

Got these in L, they fit okay around the waist but feel a bit too baggy in the legs for me. Not quite the look I was hoping for. The fabric is decent though. I'm 6'1" and usually wear a L.

Where the shape comes from
Low-crotch trousers turn up in many clothing traditions, and Japanese work and streetwear made the shape their own: loose through the seat, clean below the knee. Some people know it as ninja or shinobi pants for the same reason, it is what you cut for someone who has to crouch and kneel all day.
Shinbo is our deepest linen pair in that shape, cut for the hottest part of the year.
The dropped rise, and why it works
Most wide trousers fail in the same place: too much fabric at the top of the thigh, which widens the hip and bunches when you sit. Dropping the rise moves that fabric into the seat, where it folds instead of gathering.
Sitting on the floor, on a bike or cross-legged on a train seat, nothing pulls across the seat. The waist is elastic with a drawstring, and the front and back pockets open at the top.

A linen blend at 30% linen, with no stretch. It moves air instead of holding it, and takes soft creases where it falls.
Hand wash cold, no bleach, and line dry.
Seven colours, and how to wear them
Grey, black, blue, dark green, navy, light yellow and creamy white. Black and navy read sharpest; grey and creamy white are the quiet ones that go with most of a wardrobe; dark green and light yellow are statements that want everything else kept plain.
The rule does not change with the colour: close on top, low and simple on the feet.
Choosing your size
Shinbo is labelled in US sizes, converted from the maker's chart, and the figures are the surest guide. From XS to 3XL the waist runs 65 to 80 cm relaxed, the hip 116 to 131 cm, and the outside length 97 to 104 cm (waistband to hem, not the inseam). The maker pairs each size with a weight band, from 50 to 60 kg at XS to 110 to 115 kg at 3XL. Size XXS has no maker measurements.
Check the length as well as the waist: buyers have told us the leg ran longer than they expected, at 173 cm in an XS and at 185 cm in an M. Between two sizes, take the smaller one; the elastic and the drawstring cover the gap downward, not upward. MySize Assist, above, shows where the hem will land on you.
