How We Write Our Guides

Our guides are written by the Amaji team. We are a small online shop for Japanese-style everyday clothing: hakama pants, jinbei, noragi and haori jackets, work pants and tabi socks. Our pieces are made in China by partner workshops and shipped by our fulfilment partner. They are clothes for everyday wear, not dojo uniforms or made-in-Japan heritage pieces, and our guides say so when that matters.

How a guide is made

We draft guides with the help of AI writing tools. A draft goes live only after it passes our checks: every link must lead to a live page, every Amaji price must match the product it names, and every number about our own store must come from our own data. A draft that fails any check is dropped, not patched.

Where our facts come from

  • Products, prices and sizes: our live catalogue. A price in a guide links to its product page, where the current price shows.
  • Fit: each product's size table, and our notes on how we measure.
  • How often a piece is ordered, and in which sizes: our own orders from the last 90 days.
  • History and tradition: public references we link to, such as Wikipedia, the Japan National Tourism Organization, japan-guide.com, the V&A and the kendo federations.

What we don't claim

  • We don't state what our pieces are made of until we have checked the fabric label ourselves.
  • No star ratings or review counts in our guides.
  • When a guide compares shops or brands, Amaji is listed last, and we say plainly what we are.

Corrections

If something in a guide is wrong, email contact@amajiclothing.com. We fix it and update the date on the guide.
