About Amaji
Amaji is an online shop for traditional Japanese menswear cut for everyday wear: hakama pants, haori, noragi, tabi socks, jinbei, samue and Japanese work pants. We sell the shapes Japan has worn for centuries, made to wear with a tee and sneakers rather than for ceremony, at prices that let you try one without a second thought.
What we sell
Our best seller is the hakama pants: wide, pleated trousers with a wrap front, the garment people mean when they say samurai pants. Around them sit the open-front haori, the tie-front noragi field jacket, split-toe tabi socks, jinbei summer sets and tobi and Japanese work pants. If you are new to any of them, our guides explain what a hakama is and how the pieces fit together in traditional Japanese clothing.
What we do not do: dojo-grade martial arts uniforms, full-length formal kimono, or anything with someone else's characters on it. Our hakama are everyday trousers. If you train in kendo, aikido or iaido, buy your practice hakama from a martial arts supplier.
Where our garments are made
Our garments are produced by manufacturing partners in China and shipped to you from there. We choose each piece for its cut and cloth, write the product page ourselves, and list the real fabric composition. Size charts come from the manufacturer's flat measurements, and we explain exactly how to read them on our how we measure page.
Is Amaji a legitimate store?
Yes. Amaji is an independent online store built on Shopify. Every order goes through Shopify's secure checkout, so we never see your card details and your payment provider's buyer protection applies. Orders are processed within 1 to 2 business days and delivered 5 to 9 business days after dispatch, with a tracking link by email. You have 30 days from delivery to request a return, under our shipping and returns terms and refund policy. Customers review us independently on Trustpilot.

We ship to 33 countries: the 27 European Union member states, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, Canada and the United States. Shipping is $7.90 USD to the US and Canada and $9.90 USD to Europe and Australia, free on orders over $45 USD.
