What makes a fabric dry fast
What makes a fabric dry fast
Drying speed comes down to surface area and absorbency, not to any coating. Polyester barely absorbs water at all, so moisture sits on the fiber surface where air can reach it. Cotton pulls water into the fiber core and holds it there for hours.
A fine denier helps too. More individual filaments means more surface for the same weight of cloth. Wash them at night, wear them in the morning.
Hem, hip and thigh
The Quick-Dry Pants Wide-Leg Set is the roomiest through the seat at a 121 cm hip and a 75 cm waist, closing at 44 cm and running 104 cm long. The Cotton Linen Pants Wide-Leg is the widest at the hem at 50 cm with a 70 cm waist and a 74 cm thigh.
The Cargo Joggers Quick-Dry are 100% polyester and the narrowest through the thigh at 68 cm. All three carry a full size chart, sizes run S to XL, and shoots use a 187 cm model or taller. Wash cold and hang dry, because a hot dryer flattens the fiber that does the work.
Quick-dry on the top half
For the same fabrics on the top half see quick-dry t-shirts and polos.
For the matching set see co-ord sets. For the natural-fiber alternative see linen pants.
Measurements come from the manufacturer's flat size table for each garment, converted to centimetres and mapped onto one size ladder. Available for 3 of the 3 garments here, last checked 2026-09-11. How we measure.
Frequently asked questions
How fast do they dry in practice?
Washed at night and hung, the polyester pair is wearable by morning. Polyester holds water on the fiber surface instead of pulling it into the core.
Are quick-dry pants hot to wear?
Not if the weave is open. The wide 44 cm to 50 cm openings here keep the fabric off the leg, which does more for comfort than the fiber alone.
Is a dryer safe for these?
Hang dry instead. Heat flattens the fiber structure that moves moisture and the fabric never dries as fast again.
Which pair is best for travel?
The 100% polyester Cargo Joggers. Lightest, fastest to dry, and the pockets take a passport without adding bulk at the thigh.
