Men's Navy Coaches Jacket

Relaxed body with dropped shoulders, hip length, finished with elasticated cuffs and a drawcord hem.

A coaches jacket is the simplest jacket you can own. It has a point collar, a snap front and a drawcord at the hem. This one is navy, in a light polyester shell with a soft crinkle texture, fully lined.

The cut is relaxed, with dropped shoulders. The cuffs are elasticated, and the slant pockets at the side take your hands without spoiling the line. Pull the drawcord in for a blouson shape. Leave it loose for a straight hem.

Fit and sizing

Hip length. Take your usual size, or one down for a closer fit. The chest measures 106 cm at XS, 114 cm at M and 122 cm at XL. Length runs from 70 cm at XS to 78 cm at XL. The chart suggests M for 63 to 70 kg. Our model wears M.

Fabric and care

Shell and lining are both 100% polyester. It cuts the wind on a cool evening and packs flat in a bag. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and hang to dry.

How to wear it

Wear it over a hoodie in autumn, over a tee in spring, or over a knit polo on a cool summer night when a heavier coat would be too much and a shirt alone not enough. Navy goes with grey, cream and black. It looks right with jeans, cargo pants or wide trousers.

Coaches jackets got their name on the sidelines of American football and baseball fields, where staff needed something light to throw over a polo that could take a cold wind without fuss. The shape has barely changed since. Neither has the reason to own one. It just works.
