Short noragi with a crossover front held by an inside tie, hip patch pockets and wide 3/4 sleeves.
This Japanese noragi jacket is woven in a fine herringbone and keeps the crossover front and inside tie of the farm coat. Patch pockets sit at the hip. It is 100% cotton, washed soft, so the herringbone reads as texture.
Herringbone is a woven zigzag, the same weave found in classic tweed jackets, and putting it on a noragi mixes two traditions in one garment: the relaxed, tied shape of Japanese workwear and the quiet texture of European tailoring. The jacket looks considered without any print or logo. Woven. Quiet.
Fit and sizing
Relaxed fit with wide 3/4 sleeves. Sizes XS, S, M and XXL. Light enough to keep on indoors.
Fabric and care
100% cotton, washed. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, or hand wash cold. Hang to dry.
Colour
Ecru.
How to wear it
Over a white tee with light summer trousers. Over a dark shirt for contrast. With hakama shorts in summer.
Good to know
The inside tie keeps the front closed without any visible fastening.
Ecru shows the herringbone best. It pairs with navy, black and brown.
Washed cotton softens further with each wash.
The washed finish means the jacket arrives soft, with no stiffness to break in. Wear it on its own on a mild day or over a light knit when it turns cooler. It is one of the most versatile Japanese layers we carry.
