This Japanese kimono jacket takes its cue from the open-front haori. It is cut in lightweight cotton for warm days, with an open front, a waist tie and three quarter sleeves. Cranes are embroidered across the front hem.

The crane is one of the oldest motifs on Japanese clothing, a symbol of long life and good fortune, and placing it along the hem keeps the jacket calm from the front while giving it a detail you notice when it moves. Light. Relaxed. Easy to wear.

Fit and sizing

How to wear it

Wear it open over a tank or a tee with wide pants or shorts. Tie it at the waist on breezy days. It folds small for travel.

Light cotton packs into a bag and dries quickly after a rinse. On hot days it covers the shoulders from the sun without trapping heat. In spring, layer it over a long-sleeve tee.
