Deep-pleated wide shorts with a layered front and turned-back cuffs, drawstring waist.
These hakama shorts borrow the deep pleats of a hakama and cut them to just below the knee. A layered front reads like two garments in one. The legs end in a wide turned-back cuff. The waist has a drawstring.
A full hakama is a lot of fabric for August, and these shorts keep the parts that make the shape recognisable, the deep pleats, the layered front and the wide leg, while dropping everything below the knee so you can wear the look through the hottest weeks of summer. Cooler. Still unmistakable.
Size
One size. The drawstring waist adjusts from 64 to 110 cm. The length is 65 cm with a 39 cm rise. The hip measures 124 cm, the thigh 90 cm and the hem 96 cm. Our model is 188 cm.
Fabric and care
80% polyester and 20% cotton. The pleats hold and the cloth dries fast, so a quick rinse after a sweaty day and a night on a hanger is all they need.
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, or hand wash cold. Hang to dry by the waistband so the panels fall straight.
How to wear them
Pair them with a boxy tee and sandals, or with tabi for a Japanese summer look. A short open shirt works too. Keep it to black and white, and let the cuff sit where it falls.

They're just okay. The pleats are good but the fit is a bit baggier than I thought, even for hakama shorts. Kinda hard to style without looking like a tent. Maybe just not for me.

These hakama shorts fit well, the pleats look sharp. Just wish they were a touch longer, they hit higher on the leg than I expected. Still gonna wear them a lot, good for summer evenings.

Arrived quick, color is a deep black like on the site. Fabric feels really nice, soft but has some weight to it. Impressed right out of the package. Gonna be a staple for sure.

Super comfy, feels really good. The drape is perfect, not too wide or baggy, even for someone smaller. Wore them out yesterday, really happy with them. Nice.
