Men's Embroidered Dragon Bomber Jacket

A dragon bomber jacket in the souvenir tradition. A dragon is worked across the whole back in gold and silver thread, coiled through clouds and cherry blossom. A second dragon runs down each sleeve, and a third breaks over the chest.

This is the sukajan, the embroidered satin bomber that began as a souvenir for American servicemen stationed near Yokosuka after the war, and the dragon is its most classic motif because it suits the long, curving space across the shoulders and down the back better than almost anything else. Bold. Shiny. Unmistakable.

Fit and sizing

Loose, with raglan sleeves. Ribbing at the neck, cuffs and base is striped to match the sleeve. Sizes run XS to XXL. Our model wears M. The supplier gives a recommended size chart only.

Fabric and care

Satin polyester shell with a black body against contrast sleeves. Zip front and welt pockets. Follow the care label, and turn it inside out before washing to protect the embroidery.

Colours

Red or khaki sleeves against the black body.

How to wear it

Keep everything else plain. A white tee, black jeans or wide trousers and clean trainers. Let the back do the talking.

Look closely at the thread work. Gold and silver yarns are stitched densely enough to raise the dragon off the satin, so the scales catch light at different angles as you move. Raglan sleeves give room through the shoulders. The contrast sleeves frame the back.
