Darkwear is black clothing built on volume. The shapes are wide, wrapped and uneven, and the colour almost never changes.
It grew out of Japanese avant-garde design. In the early 1980s a handful of Tokyo designers showed oversized, unfinished black clothes in Paris, and the idea outlived the shock. Black became a way to make the cut the whole story.
The pieces here keep that rule. Nearly everything is black. What changes from one garment to the next is the construction: a panel that wraps across one leg, pleats that fall in folds, a hem that ends at two lengths.
The pieces in this collection
There are twenty-seven pieces here. Most are trousers.
Three pieces come from Japanese workwear. The tobi trousers balloon to the knee and gather at the ankle. The samue and the jinbei are sets built around a crossover or tie-front top.
Above the waist, the lyocell shirts and tees are cut long, boxy or layered to sit over all that volume.
Sizing and fabric
Most of the trousers are one size. A drawstring, tie or belt covers a waist from about 62 to 120 cm, and each page lists the exact range and the length in cm. Shirts are one size too, cut oversized with chests from 130 to 150 cm.
The trousers are mostly 80% polyester and 20% cotton, which holds a pleat. The shirts and tees are at least 96% lyocell. Wash both cold on a gentle cycle and hang them to dry.
How to wear it
Keep one piece loud and the rest quiet. A draped trouser needs a plain top. A long layered shirt needs a straight leg under it.

No. Techwear is about technical fabrics, straps and utility pockets. Darkwear is about silhouette: drape, layering and volume in plain black cloth.
