This piece of haori clothing is the long form of the Japanese open jacket, and it falls well below the hip. It has short wide sleeves and is worn open. The cloth is a textured cotton blend, light enough for warm weather.
The long haori sits between a jacket and a coat, and its length changes the proportions of everything underneath: over a tee and wide trousers it creates one long vertical line from shoulder to knee, which looks calm and tall, and because it is worn open it never feels heavy or formal. Long. Calm.

How to wear it
Open over a tee with hakama-style pants. Over a samue set. Over jeans and a knit in spring.

Army green has a workwear feel. Navy is the classic Japanese indigo tone. Black goes with everything.
The textured weave hides creases from travel and sitting.
A long haori also works well for travel, worn open on a train or plane and folded into a bag on arrival. It adds shape to the simplest tee and trousers without any extra effort or planning.
