Kimono robes, from the bath to bed
Wrap robes
The Cotton Gauze Kimono Robe is double-layer cotton gauze with a wrap front, a tie belt, a patch pocket and a small embroidered bamboo branch at the chest, in white, gray or navy, XS to M. The Navy Cotton Gauze Kimono is the same airy cloth cut to the knee with wide kimono sleeves. The Japanese Bathrobe is crinkled cotton crepe in dark gray, loose and long, in M and L. Two striped robes finish the set: a dark blue cotton jacquard with a fine woven stripe and a white cotton with a vertical stripe, both knee length.
Yukata
A yukata is the light kimono worn in Japan after the bath, at summer festivals and in onsen towns. Ours are ankle length with wide sleeves and a crossed front. Plain black, plain navy, navy pinstripe and white fine stripe come in cotton, sizes XS and S. Green stripe, light blue and white check come in polyester, one size, each with a belt.
Robe, dressing gown or yukata
The same garment goes by several names. In the UK a kimono robe is often called a kimono dressing gown. At a Japanese inn the cotton robe laid out for guests is a yukata, which is why the two sit together here. A robe stops at the knee and stays at home. A yukata reaches the ankle and can go out to a festival.
Sizing
Every piece wraps and closes with a belt, so you set the fit at the waist. The robes run XS to M, and the crepe bathrobe M and L. The cotton yukata in XS and S are the maker's Asian M and L, so read the length in cm on each product page before you choose. Gauze is woven loose and gets softer with every wash.
