A tang suit shirt in a coarse, open cotton. Knotted fastenings run down a stand collar front. The sleeves are short. Patch pockets sit low.
The tang suit is the traditional Chinese jacket and shirt cut, recognisable by its stand collar and frog fastenings, and this version strips it back to a summer shirt in a cotton that is loosely woven and left unfinished, so it breathes on a hot day and softens with every wash until it feels like something you have owned for years. Simple. Light.
Fit and sizing
Relaxed, with a straight hem. Sizes run XS to XXL. Our model is 187 cm and wears M. The supplier publishes no measurement chart for this piece, so take your usual size.
Fabric and care
100% cotton, open weave. Machine wash cold with like colours. No bleach. Hang to dry or tumble dry low, and use a warm iron if needed. Wash dark and light colours apart.
Colours
Eight options: white, gray, blue, a stripe, two reds, black and a second white. White and blue suit high summer. Black works in the evening.
How to wear it
Wear it over wide trousers in summer. Leave the top knot open for air. Sandals or canvas shoes finish it.
Frog fastenings, the knotted cord buttons down the front, are the signature of the tang suit. They take a moment longer to close than buttons, but they lie flat, never pop open and give the front its rhythm of small knots.
