Cotton hakama pants cut for everyday wear. A wrap panel crosses the front and falls open over a wide leg beneath it. The trouser reads as a skirt from some angles and as a wide trouser from others. Long ties run down the side.
The hakama was worn by samurai and is still worn today for kendo, aikido and formal ceremonies, and this everyday version keeps the two signatures that make it recognisable, the overlapping front panel and the long ties, while adding an elasticated back and a pocket so it works on a normal day in the city. How to wear them
With a fitted black tee and boots. Under a noragi or haori. With a white shirt for contrast.

Got these today, the black is deep and even. Fabric feels soft but sturdy. I'm 5'11" and the M fits great around the waist. Can see myself wearing these a lot.

Got these in S. The fit is solid, nice and relaxed. Fabric is comfy, pretty breathable. Only thing is the "black" isn't a super deep black, more like a very dark charcoal. Still good though.

How do I tie them?

Hand wash cold, do not wring, hang to dry and iron on low heat. Follow the care label.
